Following the success of our first masterclass for Secretary Generals last year, we are delighted to invite you to a new edition this year! This masterclass is once again specially designed for Secretary Generals and professionals in similar roles.

The day will kick off with Sandra Gobert (CEO of GUBERNA and partner at Andersen) discussing the latest trends in regulation and responsibilities within the governance landscape. She will discuss the new omnibus regulation that will impact the CSRD reporting and the EC programme. This will be followed by Sander Berghmans (Researcher at GUBERNA), who will present key insights from GUBERNA’s remuneration study, completed last year. His presentation will not only deal with the remuneration of independent board members but will also present some meaningful insights about the structure of Belgian non-listed companies.

In the second session, we will explore board culture and dynamics. A panel of experienced Secretary Generals will share how board culture influences board effectiveness. This discussion will be moderated by Saartje Verbeke (Lifelong Learning Director at GUBERNA).

After lunch, the programme will continue with a keynote speech by Geof Stapledon (Managing Director at GPS Global Advisors and non-executive board member of several UK and Australian firms). Geof will address two key topics: the internationalisation of governance standards and practices, followed by an insightful "read-across" of foreign practices that could enrich Belgian corporate governance—particularly as more Belgian-based companies take on responsibilities extending beyond national borders, such as those related to CS3D. Geof has a 15 year experience at BHP as Vice-President Governance; he is also Former Executive Committee member of GC100, the association of General Counsel and Company Secretaries working in FTSE 100 companies; non-executive director of the International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN); and Professor of corporate law at the University of Melbourne.

In the final session, Katia Ciesielska will discuss Artificial Intelligence for Secretary Generals. Drawing on her experience as a legal and corporate governance counsel, she will offer practical advice and best practices for integrating AI effectively.

We will wrap up the day with a networking drinks reception—a perfect opportunity to connect with peers and speakers.

As there are only 25 places available, we recommend securing your spot as soon as possible.
