GUBERNA Sounding Board Committee - Sustainability
The GUBERNA Sounding Board Committee for Sustainability, is an initiative aimed at connecting GUBERNA certified directors who share an interest in sustainable value creation in the realm of corporate governance. This committee responds to the growing need for exchanges of best practices in the field of ESG governance.
It serves as a platform where GUBERNA certified directors can exchange on topics such as purpose, sustainability strategy, ESG reporting, sustainability regulations, and the role played by the board in these different areas. It also organises workshops for the greater directors’ community.
Why should directors care?
Everyone knows that the demands being placed on companies in terms of sustainability are increasing. This concerns the 3 dimensions of sustainability : environmental concerns, societal demands and responsible governance (E, S & G).
In the context of the third wave of corporate governance, boards of directors themselves are expected to play a bigger role in the sustainability transition.
This includes:
- Prioritising the long term
- Appropriately defining corporate purpose
- Integrating sustainability into corporate strategy
- Integrating sustainability into corporate operations
- Structured and verified reporting on ESG matters
Approach
To realise its mission, the GUBERNA Sounding Board Committee for Sustainability relies on several activities:
- It promotes exchanges of experiences and good practices and networking between the committee’s members.
- It organises polls & surveys to understand the needs of GUBERNA directors regarding sustainability knowledge.
- It hosts workshops on sustainability for other GUBERNA’s directors.
- It provides input ‘from the field’ to GUBERNA research projects.
The actions of the sounding board committee are complementary to GUBERNA’s activities in this domain.
Ambition
GUBERNA Sounding Board Committee for Sustainability is a forum dedicated to fostering sustainability practices at the board level.
Its commitment extends beyond rhetoric to fostering a dynamic exchange of experiences, insights and best practices amongst board members. In addition to addressing climate and other sustainability topics, the committee creates a platform for mutual learning and collaboration within the GUBERNA Directors’ community.
The committee strives to empower the GUBERNA community to drive positive change and embed sustainability principles into their organisations' DNA.
