How can good governance accelerate your start-up & scale-up

"Governance" is a term that is usually unclear, poorly defined and difficult to apply, especially in smaller companies such as SMEs and start-ups/scale-ups.

With more than 20 years of experience in corporate governance, GUBERNA, in collaboration with EY, has organised an exclusive event for start-ups and scale-ups.

Through this initiative, we wish to bring entrepreneurs and founders of start-ups/scale-ups together with experienced members of our network, to exchange knowledge and experiences.

GUBERNA's goal is to provide young entrepreneurs with the key concepts of governance, even if it does not seem to be a priority for them. Indeed, to make an entrepreneurial project grow in the long run, many components are needed: a robust and innovative idea, a solid business plan, sufficient investments, adequate profiles, but also... appropriate and efficient governance. The ultimate goal is to strengthen the initial team with additional expertise and skills by surrounding them with the right people.  

Governance is often neglected, but it is essential from the very beginning of a project to ensure its future development. Timely reflection on the governance of the business, the rules of the game between the players involved and the choice of people to surround the founders is an essential asset for the sustainability of the business. All the more so when the development phase arrives and new capital or partners are needed, because then the governance of the company will also be carefully examined by potential investors.
