FROM FIGURES TO VISIONS BY BOARDS AND INSTITUTIONAL INVESTORS

Vlerick Business School’s Executive Remuneration Research Centre is internationally recognized for its yearly study on executive remuneration throughout Europe. In this year’s edition, the sample has been extended further by including the STOXX Europe 600, with a complete coverage of all listed firms in Belgium and the Netherlands. As a consequence, this year’s sample includes data on CEO remuneration in almost 900 firms spread over 15 countries in Europe!

As a yearly tradition, we organise a conference in which we share the main learnings from the results of our study. Moreover, this year’s edition will have a specific focus on the two “hot topics” of the impact of board characteristics and share ownership on executive rewards. In that regard, we will get the perspective from the boardroom and from the institutional investors.

Prof dr Xavier Baeten will start the conference by sharing the findings of the latest study on CEO remuneration data. Concretely, an overview will be given on the latest data, international comparisons, evolutions, trends and interesting practices. We will also explore the impact of board characteristics and share ownership on CEO remuneration level, structures and drivers.

After having dealt with the quantitative data, we foresee time for exchange and discussion. First of all, we are happy to welcome our keynote speaker, mrs Petri Hofsté, one of the most influential female board members in the Netherlands, to share her views on executive rewards. She is member of the supervisory board and chair or member of the audit committee at Pon Holdings, Achmea, Rabobank and Fugro. Also she serves amongst others on the Board of Stichting Nyenrode.

After having heard the vision of the board, we will move to another key stakeholder, being the institutional investors. Ola Peter Krohn Gjessing, who is a Senior Analyst at Norges Bank Investment Management and who is the author of the famous Norges Bank Investment Management paper on directors’ remuneration, will present the specific views of this important institutional investor on executive rewards.

Finally, during the closing panel debate, integrating the perspective of the audience, we are welcoming important representatives of institutional investors from Belgium and the Netherlands, such as Eumedion (Rients Abma).
Enrich your knowledge, broaden your network and subscribe for the Executive Reward Conference on November 25th 2019 in Brussels. This conference targets everyone looking to stay on top of the most important trends in executive rewards. Please do not hesitate to pass this invitation to everybody who might be interested.
