“Robustness, is it a third way to build sustainable organisations?”
The next GUBERNA Summer School is on June 26th 2024 (9am-5pm)
What can we learn in governance from the life sciences? What lessons can we apply from living processes and interdisciplinary approach to build more robust companies in times of fluctuations and growing uncertainty? What methods would be needed for more appropriate decision-making? What examples can we take from companies that are transforming their business model to make themselves more robust?...
These are some of the questions that we look forward to challenging with you. As you know, our GUBERNA Summer School is a yearly moment to reflect on the latest trends and developments within governance. And we are delighted to announce that:
Professor Olivier Hamant will be our first guest speaker to guide and inspire us in this reflection. In the afternoon, there is a panel discussion planned. See the programme below.
An interdisciplinary biologist, Olivier Hamant is director of research at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Lyon (at INRAE, the French institute for research on agriculture, food and environment). He is also a research associate at Kumamoto University and at Cambridge University and the editor-in-chief of a new open access journal, Quantitative Plant Biology, which promotes systems thinking and citizen science in plant biology.
Olivier is currently heading the Michel Serres institute. He has published ca. 100 scientific articles on biophysics and plant development. This research topic shed a new light on the question of robustness of living organisms. Olivier challenges society, businesses and individuals by proposing courses of action to develop systems that are more viable in the long term, despite fluctuations.
In the frame of the Michel Serres Institute, he contributes to several projects in the fields of education, science and art, around the existential issues of the Anthropocene. As an author, he published “la 3ème voie du vivant” (Ed. Odile Jacob) and “ Antidote to the cult of performance ” (Ed. Gallimard).
We look forward to seeing you there to develop better governance practices together!
