Board Effectiveness

This 6-day course takes a closer look at topics that are relevant for board members as members of the Board of Directors and in their interactions with management and shareholders. The objective is to develop skills needed for efficient and professional operations as a board member with a strong focus on the optimisation, performance and collaboration with management and shareholders.

• The right structures: the optimal governance model and its impact on the role of the board of directors
• The right process, culture & information: the role and operations of the board of directors
• The right people: an optimal compilation of the board of directors
• The right follow-through: the evaluation of the board of directors and its board members
• Rights, duties and responsibilities of board members
• The right remuneration: the reimbursement of board members and the role of the renumeration committee.
• The right issues: monitoring the role of board members
• The right issues: the strategic role of board members

Our course module is composed of a mix of concepts, recommendations, testimonials, the exchange of experiences and case studies. In addition, we select specialised, competent and experienced speakers. Company leaders and experienced governance actors share their experiences for each theme.

If you would like to follow both 'Director Effectiveness' and 'Board Effectiveness', then we recommend you first follow 'Director Effectiveness' and then 'Board Effectiveness'.

Number of participants

Our methodology and the limited amount of participants (15 to 30 participants) guarantees a large amount of interactivity and lively debates between the speakers and the participants.

This course is accessible for members and non-members.

For (future) board members, company leaders and CEOs, from listed and non-listed companies, private and public sectors, non-profit organisations, SMEs, family businesses, start-ups, scale-ups and research centres. Participating in our courses Director Effectiveness & Board Effectiveness lay the foundations (but are not required) for a better experience during the Board Simulation module.

The goal of GUBERNA is three-fold: sharing knowledge & experiences, developing skills and promoting good governance. In all of our courses, we value interactivity and illustrate specific examples and case studies to smaller groups of participants. For this reason, we spend time putting together groups of complementary participants based on an objective and professional selection process.
