GUBERNA taskforce for an in-depth reflection on the “EY Sustainability and Directors' Duties Report”
GUBERNA has recently set up a taskforce to launch a more in-depth reflection on the “EY Sustainability and Directors' Duties Report” published by the European Commission. The taskforce is led by Prof. dr. Eddy Wymeersch who is also the Chair of our Academic Council. A first meeting was held on 15 October and based on the exchanges among the participants, a position statement from GUBERNA is being drafted.
In the meantime, the European Commission has proceeded in its actions on sustainable corporate governance and has launched a public consultation. This consultation aims to:
- Gather the views of stakeholders on the need and objectives for EU intervention as well as different policy options;
- Gather data that can be used to better assess the costs and benefits of different policy options;
- Gather additional knowledge about certain specific issues, in particular regarding national frameworks, enforcement mechanisms and current jurisprudence.
This consultation documents incorporates various topics which go beyond the EY study. GUBERNA will address the questions raised to prepare an integrated response to this consultation.
