On 21 April GUBERNA held its first digital member forum around the theme “The implications of the Urgenda case on the accountability of organisations and the climate debate in the light of the Covid-19 crisis”. Before turning towards an overview of the event, it is important to sketch the context. Covid-19 has pushed GUBERNA, just as many other organisations, forward on its journey towards digitalisation.  Our first digital member forum is an excellent example thereof, but it is not the only one.

Met het oog op het garanderen van een kwaliteitsvol opleidingsaanbod, hebben we een aantal modules uit ons aanbod gedigitaliseerd, rekening houdend met de meerwaarde van interactiviteit en de mogelijkheid tot netwerken die specifiek is aan elke module van GUBERNA opleidingen.

Soucieux de continuer à transmettre un contenu formatif répondant à notre haute exigence de qualité, nous avons apporté des solutions numériques à un certain nombre de nos programmes de formation. Nous veillons également à ce que ces solutions soient compatibles avec les objectifs respectifs et avec la méthodologie de formation, et en particulier avec le niveau d'interactivité respectivement utilisé par chacun d’eux.

On our first digital member forum onthe 21st of April we will reflect upon the impact of the Urgenda legal case on the accountability of companies.But what/who is Urgenda? Why is a court ruling on climate change against the Dutch government significant for Belgian companies? Which lessons can a board of directors take away from this case? And what will be the impact of the current COVID-19 crisis on the climate debate?

Op 24 maart 2020 verraste GUBERNA veel van haar leden met de snelheid waarmee zij haar verantwoordelijkheden op zich nam in het kader van de COVID-19-pandemie. In plaats van dit belangrijke jaarlijkse evenement te annuleren of uit te stellen naar een latere datum, organiseerde GUBERNA haar eerste digitale Algemene Ledenvergadering. Deze vond volledig achter gesloten deuren plaats en maakte een interactieve deelname en stemming mogelijk.

Naar aanleiding van Internationale Vrouwendag onderzochten we de rol van vrouwen in de raden van bestuur van beursgenoteerde vennootschappen in België. We vroegen ons hierbij specifiek af of hun rol nog steeds gekoppeld is aan het statuut van onafhankelijke bestuurder.

At GUBERNA we believe good governance is the motor of our Belgian companies and directors are in the driving seat. However, no car and therefore no company moves forward without energy. To drive in the desired strategic direction, to reach the planned objectives and overcome obstacles on the way, every car needs the right type of energy. The financial sector is such an important energy source for companies as without enough financial means their very existence is threatened.
